Signs Your ViewLux Door Installation Is Failing

• The door drags or requires shoulder-lean to move. This is almost always a roller bearing that has flattened or seized. In West Palm Beach, fine sand blown in from the beach works its way into the roller track and grinds the nylon wheel down until the door rides on the bearing housing instead of the wheel.
• The latch handle swings loose or will not stay engaged. ViewLux handle sets use a spring-loaded latch pawl inside the escutcheon. Salt air corrodes that spring first, and once the spring lets go, the handle flops and the door will not stay shut in a breeze.
• The door locks but still rattles when pushed from outside. • The door makes a grinding noise halfway along the track. That is typically a cracked roller wheel skating over accumulated debris in the track channel. Left alone, it scores the aluminum track itself, and then you are pricing a full track replacement instead of a roller set.

An 8200 series hinge replacement costs more because the hinge geometry has to be reset to original spec or the door binds within a month. You can safely check a few things yourself before calling. Look at the track and clear out any sand or debris with a vacuum, not a screwdriver. Check whether the handle screws at the top and bottom of the pull are loose and snug them gently. That is the extent of what we recommend. Once you are pulling the panel out of the track, you are handling a glass door that weighs 150 to 220 pounds, often under spring tension from the roller carriage. A panel that tips during removal will shatter impact glass or not, and either way it becomes a bad afternoon. If the frame is out of square, which is common in older West Palm Beach homes where the slab has settled, putting new rollers into a twisted track just ruins the new rollers.
