Therma-Tru Window Replacement: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

We replace Therma-Tru window sashes, glass packages, balances, and complete units throughout West Palm Beach, and we typically carry the common Therma-Tru sash sizes on the truck. An installed replacement for a standard Therma-Tru double-hung sash or impact glass package runs $340 to $890 in this market, depending on glass type, Low-E coating, and whether you need a full sash or just the insulated glass unit. Most owners discover the failure the same way: a fogged pane that won’t clear, a sash that drops when you let go, or a lock that no longer lines up because the frame has moved.

We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Therma-Tru. What we are is familiar with the product line, because we have been pulling Therma-Tru windows apart and putting them back together across Palm Beach County for years. The failure points are predictable, and predictability is something we can work with.

Which Therma-Tru Models This Applies To

Therma-Tru is known for doors, but their window line, including the Benchmark and SlimLine series and the older vinyl units that came bundled with Therma-Tru entry packages, shows up regularly in West Palm Beach homes built from the mid-1990s through about 2015. The compatibility question is straightforward more often than not: the serial number and manufacturing date are printed on a small white label on the inside edge of the sash, usually behind the tilt latch. Read that label to us over the phone and we can usually identify the exact sash profile before we come out. If the label is faded, we measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest sixteenth and match the frame channel profile. That is the part where experience matters, because two Therma-Tru windows can look identical from the curb and have different channel depths by an eighth of an inch.

On OEM versus aftermarket: Therma-Tru still supplies replacement glass for many of their window lines, but not all of them, and not quickly. When OEM glass is still available, we price it side by side with a quality aftermarket insulated unit and show you both numbers on paper before we order anything. The aftermarket glass we use meets the same Florida code requirements for impact-rated openings when impact glass is what the home has. For glass packages alone, aftermarket is often the better value and carries the same durability. For a complete sash replacement, we lean OEM when the frame profile is unique to Therma-Tru, because no one wants a sash that fits and locks but sits 3/16 of an inch too deep in the opening.

Signs Your Therma-Tru Window Replacement Is Failing

  • Fog or condensation between the panes that won’t wipe off. The seal around the insulated glass unit has let go. In West Palm Beach humidity, a failed seal shows up faster than in drier climates because the air trapped between the panes is wetter to begin with.
  • The sash drops an inch or two when you raise it. The balance springs inside the frame have lost tension. Therma-Tru windows from the older vinyl lines used coil balances that fatigue after years of salt air and heat cycling.
  • The window is harder to open in July than it is in January. Vinyl frames expand in Florida summer heat. If the rough opening was even slightly out of square when the window went in, that expansion is enough to make the sash bind against the frame.
  • The lock no longer lines up, or you have to force it. This usually means the sash has sagged or the frame has shifted. Forcing the lock is how hardware breaks and how fingers get pinched.
  • You hear air moving around the sash when the wind picks up. The weatherstripping has compressed or deteriorated. The window will leak conditioned air, and in hurricane season, that same gap lets driven rain into the track.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here is what we see in West Palm Beach for Therma-Tru window replacement work:

  • Insulated glass unit replacement only: $340 to $590 per window, installed. This covers a new double-pane unit with matching Low-E and a fresh seal, set into your existing sash.
  • Complete sash replacement: $480 to $720 per window, installed. New sash with glass, new balance springs, new weatherstripping. This fixes a window that has both a failed seal and worn balances.
  • Impact-rated glass upgrade on an existing opening: $610 to $890 per window. Price moves with glass thickness and whether the frame itself needs reinforcement to meet current code.

Every quote is a written line-item price before we start. You see the part cost, the labor, and the warranty terms separately. We register both warranty layers, manufacturer and workmanship, before the truck leaves the driveway. That is The Keystone Standard, and it applies to a $500 glass swap the same as it does to a $50,000 whole-house replacement. And if something is not done right, the Done Right Promise means we come back and fix it without paperwork fights and without arguing about who is responsible.

DIY or Call Us?

Here is the honest split. You can safely check the serial number label, take a tape measure to the visible glass, and take photos of the failed seal or the sagging sash. Those three things help us quote accurately over the phone. What we do not recommend is pulling the sash and trying to replace the insulated glass unit yourself. Therma-Tru sashes are snap-fit in ways that are not always obvious, and a vinyl sash that has baked in Florida sun for fifteen years cracks when you pry it the wrong way. Then you have bought the glass and the sash, and the job cost more than it would have if we had done it the first time. If you want to check measurements and talk through what you are seeing, call (561) 264-1279 and we will walk you through it.

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."
