ViewLux Window Installation: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

ViewLux window installation in West Palm Beach typically runs $225-$475 per opening for a standard insert replacement, depending on window size, frame condition, and whether interior trim work is needed. We stock common ViewLux-compatible balances, pivots, weatherstripping, and hardware on our trucks, so most jobs are completed in a single visit. The way most homeowners discover a failed installation is quiet at first: a sash that doesn’t stay up anymore, a corner that lets the afternoon heat through, or a window that suddenly takes two hands to open come August.

This page covers what we’ve learned servicing ViewLux windows across Palm Beach County since 2008. Whether it’s a worn spiral balance, a stripped corner key, or a series of sashes that have shifted out of square, we’ll help you figure out what’s really going on and what it costs to make it right.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux produces several window lines, and parts compatibility is not universal across them. The most common units we see in West Palm Beach are the 3000 and 4000 series single-hungs and the 5000 series horizontal rollers, each using different balance systems and shoe hardware. A balance from a 3000 series sash will not seat correctly in a 4000 frame, even if both say “ViewLux” on the extrusion.

The quickest way to identify your unit is to open the sash and look at the printed label on the top rail or the side jamb. It lists the series number, the manufacture date, and in many cases, the exact balance stamp number. If the label has sun-bleached away, which we see often in West Palm Beach after ten or twelve summers of direct exposure, we measure the sash weight and the balance tube length and diameter to match the part. ViewLux also changed its corner key design around 2016, so pre-2016 and post-2016 windows use different keys. Putting the newer key into an older frame is a common mistake we get called to correct.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: we prefer OEM ViewLux hardware when it’s available, but several quality aftermarket equivalents hold up well in South Florida, particularly replacement spiral balances with stainless steel springs and heavy-duty PVC shoes. We’ll tell you the difference in price and expected life span and let you choose from a written quote. TruePane is an independent service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux, but we work with their hardware every month and we also stock parts for Andersen, Pella, and PGT windows in our West Palm Beach shop.

Signs Your ViewLux Window Installation Is Failing

  • Sash won’t stay up and slowly slides down. The spiral balances have lost tension or the pivot shoes have worn out. In ViewLux units, this usually shows up first on the south and west sides of the house, where heat cycles break down the balance lubricant faster.
  • Window is hard to lift or lower, especially in humid months. The jamb liners warp or swell with humidity, and the sash begins to bind. July and August in West Palm Beach make this one obvious because the humidity never leaves the frame.
  • Visible daylight through the gap between sash and frame, or a corner that doesn’t seat. The corner key has cracked or the sash is out of square. When we see daylight through a closed ViewLux window, the issue is mechanical, not weatherstripping alone, and adding more caulk will not fix it.
  • Window sits crooked in the opening or scrapes the frame when you operate it. The pivot bar or shoe has worn unevenly. This uneven wear is the beginning of frame damage, which is why we recommend taking care of it before wet season.
  • Lock no longer meets the keeper, or the sash won’t engage the lock at all. The sash has dropped on one side usually because a balance gave out. That misalignment also lets air creep in around the meeting rail, which you’ll feel on your electric bill before you see it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For ViewLux window installation work in West Palm Beach, our pricing is straightforward. Replacing a pair of spiral balances runs $95-$160 per window, including the part and the labor to re-square and test the sash. A complete sash rebuild with new balances, a new pivot bar, new corner keys, and resetting the tilt mechanism lands between $225 and $475, depending on window size and whether we replace the jamb liners.

Every quote is itemized on paper before we start. You’ll see the part cost, the labor cost, and the time. No surprise line items, no change orders after the fact. And every ViewLux window installation we perform carries the Keystone Standard: both of your manufacturer warranty layers registered in writing before we leave, and our workmanship guaranteed in writing for 90 days under the Done Right Promise. If it is not right, we make it right. No paperwork fights.

The permanent 5% discount for seniors and veterans applies to this work as well. Tell us when you schedule, and we’ll adjust the line-item total on your written quote before you sign anything.

DIY or Call Us?

Some parts of a ViewLux window are safe to check yourself, and we’ll tell you what those are. You can clean old lubricant and debris out of the jamb track with a dry cloth, confirm whether the label on the top rail is still legible, and check if the sash is visibly out of square by measuring corner to corner with a tape. Those checks take ten minutes and they help us quote the job accurately when you call.

What we don’t recommend is taking the sash assembly apart. ViewLux spiral balances are under constant tension. When a homeowner removes a pivot bar or a balance without releasing that tension properly, the tube can spin or snap and take a chunk out of the frame or a finger. We’ve seen both. Dale Kessler grew up in Northwood Hills and has spent enough time resetting ViewLux and other balance systems to know that the fastest fix is often the one that isn’t attempted twice. If the window isn’t operating right, call us at (561) 264-1279 and have us take a look. The diagnosis is free.

★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."
